OUR STORY · ADOPT, DON'T SHOP
Every cat deserves a chance to feel at home.
We opened Catfé Māo in 2023 with a simple idea: help people get to know rescue cats and support their care and adoption in everyday life.
A safe place to land. A chance to start again.
Many of our cats have come from the streets or families who could no longer care for them. We provide a safe place, regular meals, daily care and veterinary support while they settle in at their own pace.
Some cats find adoptive homes, while others stay with us long-term. We always put their wellbeing ahead of visitor interaction.

How your visit makes a difference
Admission helps us cover the cats’ food, cleaning and daily care. Every visit supports the work that keeps our rescue cats safe and comfortable. Thank you for being part of it.

BE PART OF THEIR NEXT CHAPTER
Their care continues long after your visit.
Every day brings meals, safe places to rest, play and veterinary care when needed. You can support the cats' everyday wellbeing even when you can't visit, with a one-time or monthly contribution.

Read the cat’s story and visit us to meet them.
Tell us about your home, routine and plans for your new companion.
Our team reviews each application and gets in touch if there may be a good match. Please allow up to three weeks.
After approval, sign the agreement, pay the adoption fee and arrange collection with the team.
LOOKING AFTER THEM, TOGETHER

We work with Broadway Vet to support our rescue cats’ health, including veterinary checks and further care as needed. Bringing a cat home is a big commitment, and we want the whole family to feel supported.

To you, it's a cat café. To them, it's home.
A visit is just one small part of their day. Their care continues long after the last guest leaves.
Catfé Māo is a place where resident and rescued cats can feel safe, rest, play and be cared for. Every visit already helps. If you would like to do a little more—or cannot visit in person—this is another way to support their everyday lives.
One-time or monthly. Always your choice.
Every visit already helps.
Care doesn't stop when we close.
Every kind gesture counts.
OUR EVERYDAY COMMITMENT
A café for people. A home for cats.
For visitors, Catfé Māo is a place to slow down and enjoy time with cats. For the cats who live here, it's where they eat, rest, play and feel at home every day. We care about both sides of that experience.
Admission and café income help us keep the space and our team running, while also supporting the cats' daily care. That care continues on quiet days too—from meals and cleaning to health checks and veterinary treatment when needed. If our cats have brought you a little joy, an extra contribution is one more way to help us care for them.
01
The café
A welcoming place to enjoy a drink, slow down and get to know the cats at their own pace.
02
Their home
A familiar home with good food, quiet places to rest, playtime and thoughtful care, day after day.
About your contribution
Catfé Māo is operated by Catfe Mao Limited. Contributions support cat care and related running costs. As we're not a registered charity or an IRD-approved donee organisation, these payments don't qualify for charitable donation tax credits.
WHAT YOUR SUPPORT HELPS WITH
The everyday things that make a home.
There is no single dramatic moment behind good cat care. It's the ordinary work, done consistently, that matters.
Everyday food & essentials
Meals, litter and the supplies needed to care for our resident and rescued cats.
Health & veterinary needs
Regular health monitoring, preventative care and veterinary treatment when appropriate.
A clean, comfortable home
Cleaning, upkeep, rest areas and a calm environment where cats can set their own pace.
Play, patience & new beginnings
Enrichment, socialisation at each cat's pace and support for those preparing for adoption.
Every contribution joins our shared cat-care fund, which is used where it's needed for the cats' daily care and the costs of keeping their home running.
IF YOU'D LIKE TO GIVE A LITTLE MORE

Single payments can use A2A bank payment or card (Stripe). No payment surcharge is added to contributions. Monthly Guardian contributions renew automatically each month until you cancel. Support does not include admission or qualify for charitable donation tax credits.

GOOD QUESTIONS, STRAIGHT ANSWERS
A little more clarity.
How does extra support help with the cats' daily care?
Visits help keep our café running and support the cats who live here. Extra contributions help us continue their everyday care—food, litter, cleaning, enrichment and veterinary care—through busy and quiet days alike.
Is this a donation to a registered charity?
No. Catfe Mao Limited is a commercial company and is not a registered charity or an IRD-approved donee organisation. Payments are not eligible for New Zealand donation tax credits, do not include admission, and may support cat care and related operating costs.
Do these care-gift options buy actual food or a check-up?
They're a lovely way to picture your contribution. No particular item or vet appointment is purchased; the team puts support towards the cats' food, enrichment, environment and health care as needed.
How does Monthly Guardian work?
Stripe charges the selected amount each month until you cancel. You can use the secure billing portal below to review your payments, change payment details and cancel future renewals. Cancellation normally takes effect at the end of your paid billing period.
Can I help without making a contribution?
Absolutely. Booking a visit, sharing our cats' stories or considering responsible adoption already helps us. An additional contribution is never expected.
However you choose to help, thank you for caring.
A visit, a shared story, a loving new home or a little extra support—every kind gesture helps make their days brighter. Thank you for being part of their world.

How a birthday visit works
01

02

Private use of the upstairs cat lounge may be possible if space allows; it is not guaranteed with an ordinary booking. We will confirm any group arrangement and admission prices before you commit.

Admission includes one menu drink per guest, which can go upstairs. Cake and meals are enjoyed downstairs at Maggie Bakery; outside food or cake cannot be brought in under the bakery policy.

Helping children and cats feel comfortable
Children under 14 need a paying adult with them throughout the visit. Speak quietly, let the cats approach in their own time and follow staff guidance. Cats may prefer to rest during the early afternoon.
The cat lounge is upstairs, reached by stairs only; there is no lift. Drinks may be taken upstairs, but please enjoy cake and other food downstairs at Maggie Bakery.
